Hola! Hi! I’m Katie.

I’ve called Puerto Rico home for nearly three decades, although my love for the island started long before I moved here. I grew up visiting Puerto Rico & the East Coast, and after graduation, I came back to work at the iconic El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo—and never looked back.

 

Since then, I’ve built my life, businesses, and community here on the East Coast.

Not long after moving to Puerto Rico, I became very aware of the number of homeless animals living on our streets and beaches.  Frustrated by how difficult it was to find help for the animals, I founded Island Dog (www.islanddog.Org.)  What began out of desperation and a desire to make Puerto Rico a better place for animals and people has grown into 20 years of helping animals get the medical care they need to live healthier, happier lives.

Later, I returned to my hospitality roots and, in 2018, started managing a sailboat charter business out of Puerto del Rey. I loved creating experiences for people, taking care of the details, and making sure everyone felt welcome and well cared for.

Luquillo Home & Paws brings all of those parts of my life together—my love for animals, my hospitality background, and nearly 30 years of knowing what it takes to live in and care for a home in Puerto Rico.

Your Home:  

After owning and caring for my own home here, I know firsthand that maintaining a home in the Caribbean comes with its own unique set of challenges. Salt air, humidity, storms, power outages—and all the little surprises that come with island living.

I’m also particular. I like things clean, comfortable, and taken care of, and I tend to notice the little things. Whether I’m checking on your property while you’re away, getting everything ready for your arrival, cleaning up, or simply making sure things are as they should be, I’ll treat your home with the same care and attention I would my own.

Your Pets:

Animals have always been a huge part of my life. Caring for them comes naturally to me, but I also bring more than 20 years of hands-on animal welfare experience and an understanding of their medical, physical, and emotional needs.

I know how hard it can be to leave your pets behind. You want to know they’re not just being fed and let outside—you want to know they’re happy, comfortable, safe, and getting plenty of love. Every animal is different, and I take the time to get to know their personality, routine, quirks, and what makes them feel at home.

Being trusted with someone’s furry family is something I take seriously, and I’ll care for yours with the same patience, compassion, and love I give my own.

It’s being the person you can call when you need someone local you can trust—someone who will genuinely care about your home, your pets, and making your life a little easier.
